Ian Hendrickson-Smith is best known for his work with various soul groups including Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, The Dap Kings and Hot Pants. However, he is a profound jazz musician in the vein of Eddie Harris. This live date is seriously groovy. The Amy Winehouse cover, “Love Is A Losing Game”, is worth the price of the cd alone. Pianist Rick Germanson, from the Pat Martino band, is a standout on this recording offering modern, blues solos that stay fresh in the ear long after listening.
