Radu Lupu Szymon Goldberg Cleveland Orchestra

After winning the Leeds International Piano competition in 1969, Radu Lupu went on to become one of the most admired and respected classical pianists of his generation. He was noted for his unique blend of sensitivity and musical insight and was heard frequently at concert halls throughout the world. Lupu made relatively few recordings for an artist of his eminence, therefore the live performances here presented in our Volume 4 are of particular interest: his Hunter College, New York, February 16, 1974 recital of Schubert, Brahms and Bartok; the Copland Piano Sonata from the Aldeburgh Festival, June 18, 1972; Mozart violin sonata with Szymon Goldberg from their London January 13, 1974 concert and Mozart’s concerto No. 12, K. 414 with the Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Antal Dorati, Cleveland, April 7, 1977.
