Art Pepper

Producer John Snyder had always wanted to record Pepper and booked him for a week at the Village Vanguard in New York. Pepper was signed to Contemporary Records at the time, and the head of the label, Les Koenig, decided to record the performances, killing any idea Snyder had of doing the same. However, Art promised Snyder that he would eventually record an album for Snyder's label, Artists House. Together they eventually made four. Here are the original albums from those sessions lovingly restored to vinyl and CD in their original form, remastered by Grammy® winner Michael Graves and re-edited by Jeff Powell. Stardust (originally released in 1985) includes Pepper's recordings of Hoagy Carmichael's title track, Duke Ellington's "In A Mellow Tone" and more.
