The new album is a collection of Paco De Lucía's best live performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival between 1984 and 2012. The release features brand new liner notes by John McLaughlin, a close friend and former participant in "The Montreux Years" series, as well as rare photos of Paco De Lucía's concerts at Montreux. John McLaughlin says, "Many superlatives have been written about Paco de Lucía, and they are all true. I am not Spanish nor do I play flamenco music, but after hundreds of concerts with Paco in the 'Guitar Trio' with Al Di Meola or on our duo tours together, I feel honored and qualified to write about one of the greatest friends of my lifetime. Paco was not only a genius on the guitar, but also an extraordinary person. He could not read music, but I have never met a musician with such an impeccable ear. Moreover, his thirst for deeper musical knowledge and experience enabled him to expand the musical traditions of flamenco music. You can hear Paco's influence in almost every flamenco guitarist today." Mastering was done by Tony Cousins at the legendary Metropolis Studios in London, using MQA to capture the original sound of the special live performances. Reviews "Above all, his curiosity and unquenchable thirst for deeper musical knowledge and experience enabled him to push the boundaries of the musical traditions of flamenco music." (Good Times, April/May 2023) "'La Barrosa' has already been heard on 'Siroco' (1987) and 'Live In America' (1994), in 2006 in Montreux it resounds for five minutes with only guitar and percussion, the former accompanying instrument becomes a singer under Paco's hands. Insane runs, an unbelievable 'plucking culture', what drama!" (FONO FORUM, May 2023)
