Hilary Hahn - Eclipse
Three-time Grammy winner Hilary Hahn presents Eclipse: an album celebrating her return to the stage. Recorded with the hr-Sinfonieorchester and its principal conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the violinist delivers interpretations of three works charged with universal emotion yet rooted in the musical heritage of their composers: Dvořák's Violin Concerto, a masterpiece from the Czech composer's "Slavic period," Ginastera's Violin Concerto, and Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy, one of the greatest virtuoso showpieces of all time The album also marks a number of musical milestones for Hahn, but most importantly her return to recording after a year-long sabbatical and many more months of artistic solitude away from the stage. "I feel like we created something beautiful with this album in such difficult times," Hilary Hahn says. "After the final chord of the Carmen Fantasy, I felt like I had gone through a huge shift in perspective. To have gone through something really challenging and come out stronger, transformed as a musician, ready for anything." Like the return of light after an eclipse (Eclipse). "Many things can fuel an artistic evolution, but often it is set in motion by major events. I'm glad that this key moment is documented here, this arrival, this new musical coming together."
