In 2022, violinist, conductor and musicologist Reinhard Goebel celebrates his 70th birthday. When he founded his ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln in 1973, historical performance practice was no longer in its infancy, but with Goebel - it seems - it learned to walk. He brought a great deal of subjectivity and freshness to performances on original instruments and thus turned against a conception of music that confused faithfulness to the original with uniformity. His interpretations left no one cold, he knew how to provoke, and even today he allows us to experience so-called early music anew at every moment This is true for his Bach interpretations, which are characterized by breathtaking tempi, as well as for his interpretation of Telemann's works, whose richness of color and gallantry he brought out in an incomparable way. Goebel has made unknown and unheard works accessible to the listener: his Heinichen recordings have been awarded international prizes, Rebel and Veracini are among his real discoveries. And with the soundtrack to the film "Le Roi dance" he taught Louis XIV to dance with verve. This edition brings together for the first time the complete works of Goebel and Musica Antiqua Köln on 75 CDs, including several CD premieres. The 208-page booklet includes an essay by Martin Elste as well as a new interview with Goebel and many unpublished photos that round out this comprehensive portrait
