Ornette Coleman: Genesis Of Genius: The Contempora

Jazz legend Ornette Coleman's most important works will be immortalized in a deluxe edition of the "Genesis of Genius" box set on March 25, 2022. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Contemporary Records, his most influential albums "Something Else" and "Tomorrow Is The Question" find a place on the edition. The beloved and controversial saxophonist is considered one of the tone-setting figures in New York's jazz avant-garde scene. Grammy winner and music historian Ashley Kahn describes Coleman's life's work this way: "Greeted or ridiculed, the music challenged long-held notions of what jazz - what music - should sound like." The albums chosen for "Genesis Of Genius," 1958's "Something Else" and 1959's "Tomorrow Is The Question," are the foundation and launching pad for his career that began thereafter, conducting Big Apple jazz into a new era. "Genesis of Genius" is physically available as both a double LP set and a double CD set. Both deluxe box sets also include a 32-page booklet with liner notes by Ashley Kahn and archival photos.
