Buzz was offered a job as assistant to Snuff Garrett, staff producer at Liberty records. He accepted and while at Liberty, produced and recorded with The Crickets, Buddy Knox, Bobby Vee, and did a slew of Surf and Drag records with fictitious groups like The Zip-Codes and The Eliminators. These groups were really just Buzz and the finest singers and musicians in LA at the time (Leon Russell, Keith Allison, James Burton, Joe Osborn, Al Capps, Stan Farber, etc.). During this time Buzz also recorded as lead singer of The Statues, who had a hit record with "Blue Velvet" on Liberty. As if this wasn't enough, he recorded under the pseudonym Garry Miles, and had a hit with "Look For A Star" on Liberty as well.
