This compilation focuses on extremely rare early to mid sixties Rock & Roll and "Garage Band" Rock records released by the Bullet and Sur-Speed labels including Don Bailey and Don Chapel who both recorded a few great Country Rockers for Sur-Speed. Bailey was never heard from again but Don Chapel went on to become Country Music royalty. He had recorded briefly for the Musicor label before landing at Sur-Speed and he was from a show business family. His two sisters are Rockabilly legend Jean Chapel and Country Music legend Martha Carson. Don went on to record for Metro Country, Epic and Pete Drake's Stop label. He was Tammy Wynette's first husband and manager and landed her with Columbia/Epic Records. His songs have been recorded by a "who's who" of Country Music, including Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Ray Price, David Houston, Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. Another Country Music legend made a brief appearance to make a Rock & Roll record for Sur-Speed in the mid 1960s. Mayf Nutter had already made a name for himself as an actor before becoming a recording artist. He was a regular on Gunsmoke and Bonanza and has appeared hundreds of times as a supporting actor on network television and feature films for over 40 years. He began his Rock & Roll career as guitarist for Del Shannon, so it's no wonder that his lone Sur-Speed 45 "Talking To Myself" rocks with such authority.
