Eric inherited a strong blues inflexion from his musician father. A child prodigy, the young man sampled all kinds of music before settling on modern jazz. This recod makes a highly confident start. Burrage and fellow Hamilton alumnus DeNigris are spot-on for Person's smart but funky music. Eric has a seemingly limitless bag of ideas and varies his attack nicely according to the material.
