The great French harpsichordist Blandine Verlet would have turned 80 in 2022. Decca is celebrating her birthday with a new 14-CD set of her complete recordings for Philips, including no fewer than eight albums released on CD for the first time. Among the recordings made on the Philips label between 1970 and 1982, the music of J. S. Bach clearly stands out, accounting for 7 CDs in the edition, including the Toccatas, Partitas, French Suites, Goldberg Variations and the Inventions & Symphonies. In addition there is 18th century French Baroque music: two superb albums dedicated to Duphly and Balbastre, a collection of sonatas for violin and harpsichord with Catherine Courtois and the six sonatas from Chédeville's Il Pastor Fido with Jean-Claude Veilhan and Jean Lamy. There are also two albums of sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti of remarkable visionary acuity and the sixteen sonatas from Mozart's youth, recorded with violinist Gérard Poulet.
