Pianist See Siang Wong, the "subtle sound painter" (Neue Zürcher Zeitung), continues his Beethoven trilogy. The second album "Childhood" presents a number of works from Beethoven's youth, some of which are unknown to a wider public: See Siang Wong has chosen for "Childhood" the three rousing "Elector Sonatas", the lively Piano Concerto WoO 4 in E-flat major by the 14-year-old Beethoven, the energetic Rondo WoO 6 and the two-movement Piano Sonata WoO 51. "In these youthful works, one can already feel important elements that define Beethoven's genius and were always further developed in his later work," explains See Siang Wong. The pianist recorded the Piano Concerto and the Rondo together with London Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Roger Norrington. The album also presents the "Nine Variations on a March by Ernst Christoph Dressler" - Beethoven's first published piano piece, written when he was only 11 years old. Wong explains about his Beethoven trilogy: "In my trilogy, I try to put especially less exposed works by Beethoven, which were nevertheless quite important for his development, into a special context. In this way, I hope to make some aspects of his creative work comprehensible in a new way." An exciting concept with in part almost completely unknown works by Beethoven.
