Ten years ago he already wanted to record together with bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Bill Stewart - now he was even joined by one of the most discussed artists of 2020 (also a Philadelphian): alto saxophonist and Blue Note star Immanuel Archer "The Magic of Now" was recorded at a livestream at the Smoke Jazz Club in December 2020. Evans and the band didn't know they had recorded a solid album here until they listened to the recording. The material was just too good not to release. For Evans, it was his first club performance since March 2020 - masked in an audience-less room.
