Important works from the French late romantic era are featured on this new release. Edouard Lalo lived and worked in France from 1823-1892. His Symphonie espagnole for violin and orchestra is his most well-known piece and still enjoys a prominent place in the repertoire of violinists. Albert Roussel was a midshipman who turned to music as an adult. Strongly influenced by the impressionism of Debussy and Ravel, he later developed his own unique style which leaned toward neoclassicism. His Concerto for Piano and Concert for Small Orchestra are showcased here.
