The Sidewinder, Lee Morgan's 24-beat blues with infectious bass line and backbeat, immediately became one of the most popular tracks in modern jazz history. Lee Morgan's major work The Sidewinder - recorded in 1963 and released in 1964 - was both a comeback and a crowning achievement. The amazing trumpeter had made his Blue Note debut in 1956 at the age of 18, but personal problems in the early 60s forced him temporarily off the stage.
