STARK QUARTET BELTRAMINI
The clarinet is a large family, which has a considerable number of components: from the small clarinet in La Bemolle, called sestino, to the double bass clarinet. Among the ensembles that gather the members of this family, the most solid, the one that boasts the largest number of dedicated compositions, is undoubtedly the quartet, mostly composed of three B flat soprano clarinets and a bass clarinet. The present work is the summa of some masterpieces for clarinet quartet, whose formation changes, in some cases, with the replacement of the third clarinet with a basset horn or of the bass clarinet with a fourth soprano clarinet. The STARK QUARTET, whose name originates from the great German clarinetist and composer Robert Stark, was born in 1989 characterized by the possibility of facing different musical genres also through the execution of pieces written, arranged and revised by the ensemble's instrumentalists themselves. The ensemble performed, among others, at the ClarinetFest 2007 in Vancouver (Canada), 2008 in Kansas City (USA), 2009 in Porto (Portugal), 2011 in Los Angeles (USA), 2013 in Assisi, 2015 in Madrid (Spain), Orlando 2017 (USA).
