Cpe Bach: Complete Flute Concertos / Rampal

C.P.E. Bach's concertos sound especially good when devised for the flute. The lively outer sections on several concertos favorably contrast to the moody and contemplative middle sections. The outer movements on the D minor concerto is especially good and the middle movement on the A major concerto is very touching. Composed for a wider audience, this music by C.P.E. Bach is enjoyable for people who don't necessarily like Emmanuel's other music, but those who do like his style will appreciate it as well. And Rampal does an impressive job of combining great skill on the difficult runs with sensitivity in the slow movements. I highly recommend this CD.
