Of his debut release, accordionist Milos Katanic writes: “Breathe in. Breathe out. This album, “The Breath,” has been brought to life by commissioning eleven new compositions for the accordion, an instrument that give the breath of life to any piece of music it plays. The pieces were written in the genre of contemporary and minimal music, but listening to this album and the story it’s telling through its skillful blend of different styles and techniques makes you forget about genre boundaries altogether. I have collaborated closely with the composers to transfer their original and fresh ideas to the instrument itself, so I hope these compositions will enhance any accordionist’s repertoire…” Milos Katanic was born in the city of Kragujevac in 1991. He enrolled in the masters degree program at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, and is currently in the postgraduate program at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, in the class of professor Janne Rattya. His undeniable talent has been proven time and time again since the start of his musical journey, and at competitions he has always been sorted amongst the cream of the crop of his generation of accordionists, both in his home country of Serbia and abroad.
