As these sonatas have repeatedly been transcribed for other instruments (including by Bach himself), James Tibbles presents two of Bach’s keyboard transcriptions of his own solo violin works BWV 1003 and 1005, thus making this recording a concert programme rather than yet another encyclopaedic version of a Bach work cycle. Melbourne-based viola da gamba specialist Laura Vaughan is a dynamic and well-recognised member of the early music movement in Australia.
