The American Chamber Winds was founded in Skien, Norway in July 1983, by David Waybright and Stanley D. Hettinger. The concept for the ensemble grew out of impromptu concerts given around the Skien area, and in conjunction with the first World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. The American Chamber Winds is comprised of some of the finest wind and percussion performers from across the United States, most of whom are affiliated with the University of Florida as either current faculty or alumni. The American Chamber Wins are very much in demand for performances worldwide. On this new release, The American Chamber Winds present a rousing programme of wind band music, including works by Mozart, Peter Van Zandt Lane, Michael Torke, Igor Stravinsky, and more.
