Sellin, Hervé; Henry, Yves

This jazz project, which centers around the music of Debussy, started in 2012 on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth. At the time, Herve Sellin was presenting with the classical pianist Yves Henry a programme entitled Happy Birthday Mister Debussy; the programme shifted between classical and jazz, a journey through the most inspiring works of this great composer who revolutionized, in his day, l’a musique savant’ and therefore, all the music of the early 20th century. Since that adventure, Sellin continued in that same spirit to present the works that make up the present album. Harve Sellin was born in 1957. Both of his parents were musicians. He studied classical piano with Pierre Sancan and entered the Conservatoire de Paris in 1976. After graduating, he pursued a carer as a jazz musician, playing with great musicians like Chet Baker and Dizzy Gillespie. Herve Sellin is professor at the Conservatoire national superieur de musique et de danse de Paris. His previous albums have been released to widespread acclaim.
