Quintette Syntonia; David, Romain; Moraly, Stéphanie

It is not the first Koechlin ablum from Timpani and not the first release from the Syntonia Quintet, but it is the first album of this ensemble for Timpani, and it features two very great yet very seldom recorded works from the French repertory: the Sonata for violin and piano - with Stéphane Moraly and Romain David, the ensemble’s first violin and pianist - and the Quintet for piano and strings, the score of which has been entirely revised (thousands of errors!) by the great Koechlin specialist Otfrid Nies. A fine ensemble was required to take up this challenge: the Syntonia Quintet, hailed for its previous releases of Dvorak, Schumann, Franck and Olivier Greif. Created in 1999, Syntonia is the only existing Piano Quintet in France. Paris Conservatoire graduates in 2000, its members took that year a prize at the Florence International Competition and recorded their first album. They have since performed in many prestigious festivals and concert venues.
