Anton Kuerti’s Profound Passion is a film about the Diabelli Variations (33 Variations on a Waltz by. A. Diabelli, Op. 120). The documentary includes a 27 minute dialogue by Anton followed by his masterful performance of the entire work! Beautifully filmed, this video puts the viewer on an intimate footing with the pianist and the instrument. Watching his hands work the keyboard is a magical experience.
In-studio recording filmed November 2011 in Brisbane, Australia. The documentary package contains a 20 page booklet with Anton’s scholarly notes on the Diabelli Variations. It also includes Anton’s long-version biography in English, French, and German. Watching notes and the story behind the creation of this film are in the booklet.
