Violin & Piano
Nathan Milstein was in Europe for almost every concert season. His influence on European violinists was decisive. He was considered the most balanced instrumentalist, capable of combining a perfect and functional technique with a passionate disposition, vivid intelligence and consciousness of the music value. Was he the ideal violinist? In the middle of our last century he was. Or, better, he was the one who best mediated the contrasting aspects of the interpreter. Milstein's ability to play his music as a consummate orator and to mediate contrasting spurs, is well displayed in his interpretation of Bach's Ciaccona, a real wonderful performance included on this album.
