This recording, performed by Alberto Mesirca – a virtuoso in whom bravura combines with pure musicality – represents something of an event in the history of recordings for guitar, as it focuses on one of the most considerable contributions made to the guitar repertory in the second half of the 20th century: the work of Venetian composer Claudio Ambrosini, containing 21 pieces composed between 1973 and 2013. Ambrosini studied electronic music with Alvise Vidolin, as well as early instruments and music history. He won the Prix de Rome in 1985, and subsequently began receiving commissions from RAI, WDR, and numerous other institutions. He is currently on faculty at the University of Padova.
