Modern Soul is an original project by Agata Szymczewska. It consists of four sonatas for violin and various instruments. Agata is joined for this recording by pianists Marek Bracha and Grzegorz Skrobinski, accordionist Maciej Frackiewicz, and guitiarist Lukasz Kuropaczewski. All of these pieces were composed between 2013 and 2015 especially for these performances. Ignacy Zalewski, Mikolaj Majkusiak, Marcin Markowicz, and Aleksander Nowak are all composers of the new generation who have all previously written for this instrumentation. “… Despite the fact that all of the sonatas draw on a the neo-styles of modernism and postmodernism, each of them is characterized by an individual tone and introduces the listener to a different labyrinth of form, consisting in more than just aesthetic playing.
