GOTHENBURG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA NAGANO

The relationship between Kent Nagano and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra began in 1993 when the group performed Mahler’s Third Symphony. Over the next decades Nagano became a regular guest visitor with the Orchestra. After Nagano’s appointment as Principal Guest Conductor in 2013, the project of performing and recording the major orchestral works of Richard Strauss began in conjunction with the composers 150th birthday in 2014. “Eine Alpensinfonie” is the last of Strauss’s large orchestral pieces. Since its revival in 1975, the piece has been one of the most popular Strauss works among audiences. This album was recorded in the splendid acoustics of the Gothenburg Concert Hall in November of 2014.
