Harry Christophers and the Handel and Haydn Society present a programme full of great excitement and drama in this brand new live recording devoted to Haydn, the master of the symphony.; Starting off this recording is Hayden’s Symphony No. 7 “Le midi”. This is one of the first symphonies that Haydn wrote as Kapellmeister to Prince Paul Anton Esterházy, and is among the most remarkable of his earlier symphonies.; The second selection is the Violin Concerto in C major, performed by Concertmaster Aisslinn Nosky, who is known for his expression and passion when performing.; Rounding out the disc is Haydn’s Symphony No. 83 “La poule”, named for its famous ‘clucking’ motif.; America’s oldest continuously operating arts organization, the Handel and Haydn Society began its Bicentennial celebration with the 2014-2015 concert season, and will continue into the 2015-2016 season under the direction of Artistic Director Harry Christophers.
