ALEXANDER BOYD

Isaac Albéniz’s Iberia is considered to be his masterpiece. Comprised of four books, each containing three pieces, the suite was composed between 1905 and 1909. Olivier Messiaen said of the work, “Iberia is the wonder for the piano; it is perhaps on the highest place among the more brilliant pieces for the king of instruments.”; Alexander Boyd releases Volume 1 of Iberia, containing books 1 and 2. (Vol 2 Books 3 and 4 to follow). Born in Australia in 1972, Boyd is on the piano staff at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the University of Birmingham.; Boyd made his Concerto debut in 1983 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has performed across the globe, and has recorded works by Chopin, Schumann, and Debussy to name a few. He has developed a love for the music of Spain, and has set out to record a great deal of Spanish repertoire for piano.
