The consort of viols began appearing in the years surrounding 1500 with the widespread distribution of part-music. | The Rose Consort, in their third recording for Delphian, uses a set of instruments modelled on those depcited in an Italian altarpiece dating from 1497 in Bologna. | Recently, Rose Consort of Viols have performed at the BBC Proms, the National Gallery in London, and for Semana de Musica Religiosa in Spain.| Clare Wilkinson, an English mezzo-soprano specialising in Baroque and Renaissance music, joins the Rose Consort for this revealing work. | Wilkinson, from Manchester, has performed at the BBC Proms, Washington National Cathedral, and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
