A 50 CD Original Jackets Collection celebrating the greatest Classical and early romantic recordings from Decca’s pioneering early music label L’Oiseau-Lyre.
The box features orchestral, vocal, chamber and solo piano music from Christopher Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music, Malcolm Binns, Andras Schiff, the Music Party, the Esterhazy Quartet among others. This is the first time that many of the recordings in the box are available on CD internationally.
L’Oiseau-Lyre is one of the pillars of Decca’s label history. Originally founded as a publishing venture called Editions de L’Oiseau-Lyre in Paris in 1932, the recording side was acquired by Decca in 1970. The label came to represent the highest standard in original instrument performance, based on the most recent research into the original texts, instrumentation and performing styles.
