KHACHATRYAN KHACHATRYAN

Dedicated to the 100th Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, My Armenia is a very personal, touching and brilliant tribute to Armenian music by Sergey and Lusine Khachatryan. This album provides a large and heartstretching overview of the finest Armenian composers, especially those who have successfully mixed Western Europe and folk influences, such as Komitas or Khachaturian. Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Sergey Khachatryan won First Prize at the VIII International Jean Sibelius Competition in Helsinki in 2000, becoming the youngest ever winner in the history of the competition. In 2005 he claimed First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Lusine Khachatryan has received numerous awards and prizes throughout her artistic development. Among them are the Musical Advancement Award of the Baden Cultural Foundation, the Scholarship of the “Freundeskreis” of the Music Academy of Karlsruhe, and a special grant from the German foundation Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. In addition to her solo and duo work, she also performs regularly with chamber and symphony orchestras. Sergey and Lusine are both regular duo partners and siblings. Together, they have given recitals at Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Madrid Auditori Nacional, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Brussels Bozar, Luxemburg Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall.
