Ensemble Mare Nostrum and conductor Andrea De Carlo perform Stradella’s oratorio, which combines sacred, moral, political, social, and even erotic subjects. The only musical source of the San Giovanni Crisostomo is a hand-written score kept in the Biblioteca Estense in Modena since 1680.
