Poulenc: Chamber Music
Label: PALADINO MUSIC
Francis Poulenc’s Violin and Flute Sonatas and his Sonata for Two Pianos are some of the most popular chamber works of the 20th c. Poulenc, whose oeuvre spanned more than four decades up until his sudden death in 1963, remained loyal to the aesthetic foundation of the “Groupe des Six”. Independent of all later radical changes of style and challenges, he maintained his musical style rooted in the tradition from Baroque to Impressionism. These new recordings feature four of Germany’s foremost musicians: Kolja Lessing, violin; Henrik Wiese, flute; Eva-Maria May, piano and Alexander Wienand, piano.
