Michelangeli - Complete Warner Recordings

Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli is both a legendary performer – admired for his perfectionism, his immaculate technique and his sense of color and poetry – and a mysterious figure: he was aloof on stage, a very private man and rarely played more than 20 concerts in a season. This 14-CD anthology comprises recordings Michelangeli made between 1939 (the year he achieved fame with his victory at the Geneva Piano Competition) and 1975. Michelangeli’s repertoire was eclectic, and many of his signature pieces are included in the collection. The set includes previously unpublished recordings: three movements from Schumann’s Faschingsschwank aus Wien, recorded in Paris in 1972.
