His opera Sardanapalus (1698) is a remarkable synthesis of various European national styles; alongside the German influences, those from French and Italian opera are unmistakable, marking the beginning of that “mixed taste” compositional style that J. J. Quantz designated, decades later, as typical of German masters Telemann, Bach, Händel and Graun. Price: $57.98 |
