A Double Celebration / Rutter, Cambridge Singers

This Collegium double-disc set has been prepared to mark 30 years of the Cambridge Singers and to celebrate the 70th birthday of John Rutter. The first disc includes highlights from 30 years of the Cambridge Singers. The thirty tracks selected from classic Cambridge Singers recordings feature a variety of composers. The second disc celebrates John Rutter as he approaches his 70th birthday with a host of music composed or arranged by the composer over the past 30 years. Born in London in 1945, John Rutter went on to study music at Clare College, Cambridge, where he wrote his first published compositions and conducted his first recording while still a student. Following his tenure as Director of Music at Clare College (1975-79), he formed the Cambridge Singers as a professional chamber choir primarily dedicated to recording, and he now divides his time between composition and conducting. In 2007 he was awarded a CBE for services to music.
