The Miskolc Symphony Orchestra performs three well known and popular works by Sergei Rachmaninov, including the version for full orchestra of Vocalise, which Rachmaninov himself arranged. The early, vivid Isle of the Dead and the later Symphonic Dances, op, 45, dominate the program. The Hungarian Symphony Orchestra Miskolc was formally established on the 1st of November 1963. Mr. Kovács, only the orchestra’s second principal conductor, has been its Artistic and Music Director since 1984.
