The Weavers

(SACD Hybrid/ Stereo/ DSD, Previously Available as APFCD 005 (753088000522) Deleted June 2002)

The Weavers are probably the greatest folk group of the past century. Although they fostered the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, their songs are better known than their own performances. Peter, Paul and Mary, took the early Weavers song "If I Had a Hammer" into the Top 10 and the Tokens pilfered the Weavers song "Wimoweh" and hit the charts with "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". This SACD reissue, which replaces a Gold CD version that has been out of print for over ten years, compiles recordings made at two historic concerts celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Weavers. Recorded on location at Carnegie Hall on May 2 and 3, 1963, it features fourteen of the group's hits including "Goodnight Irene" and "Woke Up This Morning." Analogue Productions, working with Kevin Gray of Cohearent Audio, presents a glorious, audiophile remaster of this classic album in three-channel stereo.
