Canadian violist Rivka Golani performs transcriptions J.S. Bach's cello suites on this set. A magnificent violist, she has had over 250 pieces written for her, including 60 concertos.
This set is now out of print but Grigorian has been fortunate in locating a box of this wonderful recording. Golani lets the music speak for itself in a performance that is very matter-of-fact, uncluttered and to the point. The sound of the CBC recording is top-notch and allows her rich sound to be heard time and again.
