Symphony No. 5 in D Major & Symphony No. 6 in E minor

Both these Symphonies represent Vaughan Williams at his creative zenith being composed in 1943 and 1948 respectively. The 5th uses many influences from VW's Opera The Pilgrims Progress whilst the 6th owes many of its influences to unpublished film and incidental scores. The ASMF and Sir Neville Marriner need no introduction as accomplished performers of English music of the 20th Century.
