Juno Nominee 2012 - Blues Album of the Year
Listening to ME ‘N’ MABEL is like having Suzie Vinnick perform in your living room. This stripped-down solo blues album features Vinnick’s dynamic voice, which can go from a whisper to a growl in a heartbeat, and percussive playing on her small-bodied guitar, with a little accompaniment from her friends. ME ‘N’ MABEL has attracted North America–wide attention. The 14-song collection has earned nominations in four categories for the 2011 Canadian Maple Blues Awards. It got to No. 2 and spent seven weeks on B.B. King’s Bluesville Sirius/XM charts. And she performed at the prestigious Madison Square Music Studio Series in New York City, sharing the bill with John Hammond. Produced by Danny Greenspoon, the disc travels many roads of acoustic blues, including Vinnick originals such as “Save Me For Later,” the only blues song ever to include the phrase risotto con grana Padano. Vinnick has received much recognition for her playing, singing and songwriting. She has received two JUNO Award nominations: in 2011 for her work with The Marigolds and in 2009 for her third solo album, HAPPY HERE. She has also won six Maple Blues Awards and two first-place finishes in the blues category of the International Songwriting Competition.
