Houston Person met Etta Jones in 1968 and for over thirty years they toured, recorded and made music together. Their names signified the elegant vocal stylings and mellifluous tenor sax arabesques that would be their trademark for their entire working relationship. The shor t memory of the public may forget that the pre-Etta Houston Person was trumpeted as the heir apparent to the Boss Tenor crown worn by Gene Ammons. Houston is indeed a multi-faceted artist who has and continues to wear many hats. Here, with his regular band, he retur ns to that soulful sound he explored and helped define on albums like "Goodness", "Chocomotive" and Charles Earland's "Black Talk". With music by Hank Mobley, Percy Mayfield, Ray Brown, Miles Davis and others, Houston Person puts his soulful side on display proving, yet again, that he is one of jazz's most diverse and eloquent spokesmen.
