Friedrich Kleinhapl burst onto the international scene in October 2007 performing with the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev, who described him as one of the most promising musicians of a new generation. Kleinhapl also performed with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, and the Prague Symphony Orchestra. He performs as a solo artist and chamber musician in many European cities as well as in the United States and Canada, South America and China. He has given concerts at the Wiener Musikverein and at the Wiener Konzerthaus, London's Wigmore Hall, the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Dome des Invalides in Paris and music festivals as the Wiener Festwochen, the Salzburg Festival, and the Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt.
Since 2003, Andreas Wokye has been permanent Duo-partner of Friedrich Kleinhapl. In 2009, they have been awarded the ,,Excellentia Award" (Pizzicato) for their first volume of the Beethoven Cello Sonatas (ARS 38035).
In the coming season Friedrich Kleinhapl will embark on a concert tour to the United States including a debut recital at New York's Town Hall. He is also invited for concerts in Rome, Berlin, Zurich, at the Wiener Musikverein and at a number of music festivals.
