Two works recorded by Maestro Mehta in the seventies, this time with the IPO and released on the Decca label. The Decca recordings stood out for their brightness and orchestral brilliance, reminiscent of Sir Georg Solti's interpretations of these Austrian composers. These new recordings by Mehta with the IPO have an added warmth and gentleness (most noticeable in the Second Movement of Schubert's 9th), resulting from the experience of years of studying the works of these composers.
