Lecocq: La Fille De Madame Angot

This is a charming French operetta (also called a comic opera) by a composer that is lesser known in the Operetta society. I was quite surprised by the warm arias and duets in the operetta. Some of the most notable highlights (that i grown to admire) include: the great rondeau from the 1st act and the superb waltz from the end of the 2nd act. In fact I have wondered why the waltz has not grown famous! The overall style of the composer reminds me of Donizetti's. The music is light and easy to get acquainted with. The singers in this production are good, giving us a nice and easy-to-listen-to performance. Bernard Sinclair sings in a few other operettas from the EMI classics label collection.
