The disc features four mainstays of trumpet repertoire form the Classical era; the concertos by Haydn, Leopld Mozart, Neruda and Hummel. What is given here is a solid representation of first-class trumpet playing. Tarkovi's warm tone and legato line brings out the melodic aspects of pieces that are sometimes over blown and bashed through at one dynamic. He handles runs with the greatest of ease, and flips from registers without a single break. It truly is beautiful playing, and very careful phrasing. The Bamberger Symphoniker provides an excellent plateau for Tarkovi to float above. This disc is a wonderful representation of the lyricism of the trumpet, and four beautiful concertos!
