This autumn sees the release of Hassan Erraji's stunning new album Awal Mara on World Village.
This is a comeback album of pure excellence and sure to re-ignite his army of dedicated admirers around the world as well as recruiting whole new legions of music aficionados about to experience the aural delights and charm of his creations for the first time.
As a solo performer and with his former band Arabesque Hassan released a series of critically acclaimed albums which achieved world wide recognition and sales.
In his long and colourful career Hassan has played and collaborated on a huge number of musical projects with other major artists such as Ali Farka Toure and Tomani Diabate of Mali, Hani Zaid and Cherine Ansari of Egypt, Abas Boulaaras and Abdellah Tanjaoui from his native Morocco. He has performed live on stage at the worlds most prestigious music venues and major music festivals including The Royal Festival Hall, WOMAD and Glastonbury (UK), Teatro di Polverigi (Italy) and In Roads Africa (New York).
Hassan has written and produced music for film, radio, video, theatre and television but spent the best part of the past decade concentrating on writing and teaching.
The new album is packed full of compelling new songs fashioned from Hassan's immense classical musical knowledge, absorbed into a contemporary music sensibility which has most certainly been given a veritable Yorkshire twist by the highly esteemed personnel involved with the project.
