Amor Aumenta el Valor (1728)

Amor aumenta el valor (1728) was Jose de Nebra's first commission for the stage of the Spanish Court. It was also his last, for reasons unknown. We can however speculate that it may have been for the simple reason that Nebra was not Italian.
This work was composed for the wedding of Marie Barbara and Ferdinand. This first recording of the opera reveals a sumptuous synthesis of different styles in fashion during the 18th century at the Spanish Court, combining the energy of Spanish music with the virtuosity of Italian music.
The second major revelation of this disc resides in the incredibly high technical and musical skills of the musicians and singer soloists: their interpretation shows intense jubilation whilst retaining deep sensitivity. A great discovery, not to be missed!
