After a quick visit through the first sixty years of jazz, with no less than 580 important stops along the way, to take a look at progress and note the enormous diversity and creative musical talent, we finally arrive at a date, or rather a whole year, that we can take time over and study at leisure.
Our aim is to try and offer a panorama that will be both dynamic and intelligently informative. We want to do this as impartially as possible, but with certain obvious reservations - in spite of the enormous hard work that has gone into making this selection, we cannot possibly have perfect judgement or remain completely objective, and in some cases, not all the documents we wanted were available or were in too bad a state from a technical point of view. So in 93 very varied tracks for 1952, recorded live or in the studio, in big band or solo, in classical or more modern style, here are more than seven hours of jazz, where the listener can greet old friends or discover new ones.
